Experienced Network Engineer required for an exciting permanent opportunity with a leading global sports broadcast organisation based in Europe.
As a Network Engineer, you will work as part of the Broadcast Engineering team, and be responsible for the design, implementation, operation and on-going support of the IT network infrastructure for major live sporting events.
You will design robust network solutions based on technical and functional requirements, present network implementation proposals, produce technical documentation (detailed network diagrams, cable lists, rack layouts) and coordinate global installation teams for the deployment of network infrastructure.
You will configure and maintain switches, routers and firewalls, and implement cyber security measures (firewall rules, server updates, intrusion detection policy management, malware protection), to ensure all services and systems are always available and highly reliable.
You will play a key role in network monitoring, making sure infrastructure failures and performance degradations are fixed promptly and efficiently.
This position will be based at the company's main headquarters in Europe for the network design and planning phase and then based full-time in Asia (approx. 6 months) for the implementation and operation phase. Candidates must therefore be willing and flexible to travel and be based overseas for long periods of time.
To be considered for this role, applicants will have extensive professional experience as a Network Engineer, ideally being CCNP, WCNA, JNCIE-ENT or CISM certified or similar or have equivalent industry experience.
You will have strong experience of large network deployments with different topologies such as Access / Aggregation / Core or Spine / Leaf, QoS configuration, L2 best practices for VLAN configuration, WAN connections (VPN, dedicated L2 Ethernet links, MPLS), high availability L3 scenarios with protocols such as VRRP or HSRP, load balancing, traffic / bandwidth management and network monitoring tools (Nagios, PRTG, Zabbix).
You will also understand optical transmission concepts, for example optical power, attenuation, sensitivity, dispersion, reflexion, multimode and single mode. An ability to identify and resolve issues in the different layers of the OSI model is also key.
Excellent English language communication skills are essential for this position, along with good project management skills.
