Duty Editor / Director of Content

A fantastic permanent opportunity for a Duty Editor / Director of Content to join a leading digital sports broadcast client to lead their News and Social Media department. 

As a Duty Editor / Director of Content, you will take full leadership of the daily development and production of innovative digital content across audio, video, editorial journalism, interactive and social media platforms. You will ensure unique, engaging and authentic stories are delivered with a distinctive voice, in multiple languages, to sports fans around the world.  

You will work with the Editor in Chief, key stakeholders and commercial partners to create cross-platform content plans and distribution strategies.

Working in a fast-paced, high-pressured, real-time publishing environment, you will make quick editorial decisions with confidence, coordinate editorial assignments, delegate tasks efficiently and ensure the highest standards are continuously maintained. You will also play a key role in mentoring junior members of the team.

You will have a deep understanding of the creative and technical processes of editorial and video content production, delivery and distribution, ensuring the appropriate procedures are implemented by staff and all content meets production quality and integrity standards.

You will deliver projects through cross-functional teams, collaborating closely with sport production, planning, commissioning, data, emerging technology, product management and commercial resources, to enhance the way stories are told and content is presented, delivered and integrated.

This role requires strong business and commercial acumen, with the ability to keep a close eye on the financial aspects of running a department, considering cost efficiencies and identifying new opportunities for growth in traffic and revenue.

Candidates must have a strong background in journalism, copy writing, digital video storytelling and branded content, ideally within the broadcast sports industry.

You will have in-depth knowledge of online content management systems, CRM systems, SEO best practices and online measurement tools such as Google Analytics. The ability to analyse market trends and identify hot topics to drive fan interest is essential.

Previous team management experience is vital, along with sharp multi-tasking skills, attention to detail, exceptional communication skills and diplomacy.     

Fluency in English is required, French language skills would also be highly advantageous. A personal passion for sports and sports-related content is also desirable.
